  1. I’ve been training at Phoenix Muay Thai Boxing Club intermittently for over 12 years and, despite unrelated injuries, I’ve always returned as it’s the only form of exercise I have found that has remained interesting.
The classes at Phoenix Muay Thai Boxing are diverse and for all ages and levels of fitness. They are challenging yet rewarding with a class timetable to suit most people’s schedules.
Kru Rick and members of the Phoenix Muay Thai Boxing are friendly, supportive and non-judgemental which, for somebody like me who has an ongoing weight problem and feels self-conscious, is extremely important.
I highly recommend private Muay Thai Boxing lessons as they are tailored to your individual requirements and your personal progress is quickly enhanced.
Kru Rick is an experienced fighter and highly competent trainer. His method of teaching enables you to feel confident whilst learning the techniques in a controlled environment.
In short, if you are looking to increase your fitness levels in a welcoming atmosphere then Phoenix Muay Thai Boxing Club is the place for you.
Testimonial from Brian about his son experience training
My son Artie loves his classes at Phoenix Muay Thai. Within just a few minutes on his first visit it was obvious this was what we had been looking for, he just feels like he belongs. He is treated as an equal by inspirational tutors, as are all his classmates, it certainly works as I have never been around such a well behaved group of young people who look after each other and help one another out. I suppose the key is that Phoenix just gets on with it, Artie is there to learn self defence and when it might be necessary and that is exactly what they are teaching him. He comes out of class excited at the new things he has learned, we practice with gloves and pads at home, other than that you would not know he is learning a martial art. He is taught by his tutor Mike never to show it off, not to draw on his growing skills as an early option and to always try to walk away. It’s great to see him becoming quietly more confident as he learns more. His classes are jam packed with activity and he is on the go throughout. I’m happy to say that on class nights he comes home tired out and he sleeps like a log and that has to be a good thing in a game console age.!

  2. I’ve been coming to Phoenix Muay Thai Boxing on and off for over 10 years now and my aim is mainly to improve and maintain my fitness. I’ve had a go at a lot of different martial arts over the years including karate, MMA, tae kwon do, ju-jitsu, aikido and even capoeira, but I keep being drawn back to thai boxing. I think this is for a few different reasons.
First of all, if you put in the effort, muay thai boxing gets you fit, fast! You definitely feel it the next day and I know I quickly see a difference in my general energy levels once I’m training regularly. Secondly there’s the brilliant positive atmosphere of this club. Everyone supports one another, no matter their level of ability or their goals, and I’ve always been made to feel so welcome, even if I’ve come back after long break away from training. Finally there’s the hard work and dedication of Rick Lewis and others who put so much effort into planning sessions and volunteering their time to supporting the club. Their enthusiasm is infectious and you can always be confident that classes will be interesting, varied and challenging.
I have recently had a private muay thai lesson and found the experience to be quite different but complementary to the regular classes. This lesson was a great investment or my time and money and I wish that I’d started having them sooner. However, I didn’t really understand how beneficial they would be to my training overall. That’s why I agreed to write this now to tell others what I would have liked to read myself as a member of the club who hadn’t tried a private session before.
The lesson is tailored to exactly what you want to work on. I discovered just how much Rick really notices about my habits and my potential during training! We worked on a number of areas in much more detail than could ever be achieved in a normal class such as my stance, reach and technique. I am now working hard to integrate what I learned in this session with my normal training to address some bad habits and to build on the strengths that Rick helped me to identify.
